Things to Contemplate
Monday, November 1, 2004

it was a day very similar to this in 1992 when clinton won the election. overcast-gray-rainy-ominous-forebodding. i thought that it was the end of the world. as it turned out, it wasn't. i thought clinton would be terrible for america and that life as i knew it would end. i despised everyone who had voted against bush(the elder).this was because i believed clinton (the democrat) was from the devil. i am a republican or atleast i vote that way. i only vote on 1 issue and that is abortion, and i will tell you why but on another day. all of that to say this- here we are 12 years later and very little seems to have changed. i am sure you could argue that but on the whole, what has really changed? not much worth arguing over. and yet we do even with people we love.

my best friend was over 2 nights ago. we get into politics which is ok cause we agree on darn near everything. i started into a story but my friend cut me off, to tell me about his brother and mother getting into it on the phone over who they were voting for. to make it short- his brother ended up hanging up on his mom. i thought this story was especially funny because 2 days prior to his visit my mother had called me . she was upset because she had a similar conversation with my sister that ended the same way.

my mother told me it was her constitutional right to vote for whoever she wanted to. i said it "it is your constitutional right to vote for whoever you want to even if it is wrong" . she concurred.
i offer no moral to this story other than that but i will repeat it YOU HAVE THE CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO VOTE FOR WHOEVER YOU WANT TO - EVEN IF IT IS THE WRONG CHOICE. cause in the end you will probably never speak to your candidate or have to live with them not so with mom, family or friends.
